Make Sure Everyone Is Safe
Your safety and the safety of others is the first priority. Call 911 if anyone is injured or if the situation requires emergency response.
Document Everything
Take photos and video of all vehicles, property damage, the scene, weather conditions, and any visible injuries before anything is moved.
Get a Police Report
For auto accidents and crimes (theft, vandalism), always file a police report. Your claim may require a report number.
Call Us or Your Carrier
Contact our office during business hours or call your carrier's 24/7 claims line directly. Don't delay — prompt reporting protects your rights.
Don't Admit Fault
Be factual with police and the other party, but don't admit fault or liability at the scene. Let the insurance companies determine fault.
Keep Records
Save all receipts for emergency expenses, rental cars, and temporary repairs. These may be reimbursable under your policy.
Report a Claim by Carrier
Not sure which carrier you're with? Check your insurance ID card or call our office and we'll find it immediately.

Michigan Auto Claims — What's Different
Michigan is a no-fault state, which means your own insurance pays your medical bills after an auto accident regardless of who caused the crash — through your Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage.
You generally cannot sue the other driver for pain and suffering unless your injuries meet Michigan's "serious impairment" threshold. Understanding this distinction matters when filing your claim.
If you have a collision claim, the at-fault determination still matters for your comprehensive/collision deductibles and for seeking reimbursement from the other driver's property damage liability.
